Mereau, Sophie (1770–1806)

Sophie Friederike Mereau (née Schubart) (1770 – 1806) subsequently married Clemens Brentano and took his surname.  Most of her work was written under the married name of Mereau. She was an acquaintance of Schiller, Paul, Herder, Tieck, and other poets of the time. She published various short stories and essays, poems and two novels. Furthermore, she was the editor of several almanacs and from 1802 the women’s magazine Kalathiskos. Wikipedia-DE
