Richard von Schaukal (1874 – 1942) was a Moravia-born Austrian poet, writer, translator, and literary critic. His poetic works were influenced by French symbolism, the neo-Romantic and by Heinrich Heine and show a traditional understanding of art; emotion-laden, melancholic poems and prose marked by cultural pessimism.
